This week on Great Arts at Eastern, Jeff Gentry talks with Chloe Barrick and Jill Balkun about this upcoming Senior Art Exhibition at the Runnels Gallery in Portales, New Mexico. 

Jill is one of nine ENMU Seniors who is a visual arts student who has done a set of lounging nudes that was inspired by her exploration of painting in flesh tones over the past year. 

This week on Great Arts at Eastern, Jeff Gentry talks with Bryan Hahn, Angelica Casteel, and Kendall Romero of the College of Fine Arts about the upcoming production of the play Steel Magnolias.  Bryan Hahn who is the Theatre Director at Eastern talks about that he is drawn to the art of storytelling and when he has a chance to direct has a chance to see through a different lens.  

This week on Great Arts at Eastern, Jeff Gentry talks with Ken Miller and Iysha Melton about the upcoming “Spring Choir Concert” at Eastern New Mexico University.  

Ken who has taken over from Dr. Jason Paulk while he is on sabbatical talks about what he has learned while teaching in the department.  Stating that “it has been a great one” and that in an e-mail to Dr. Paulk that “these are pretty hot cars, I’m just trying to keep them out of the ditch” in relation to the students outstanding skills.

This week on Great Arts at Eastern Jeff Gentry talks with Travis Sherwood, Assistant Professor of Voice and Vocal Area Coordinator at ENMU about his upcoming Faculty recital 

Travis talks about how instruction became one of his prolific endeavors in his works in vocal performance.  One of his current production of opera scene and he is currently thinking about what works he will plan to do next with his students.  Doing a production Opera Scenes allows for a broad coverage of the different types of vocal styles and finding the unique talents of each singer.

This week on Great Arts at Eastern Jeff Gentry talks with Tracy Carr about her upcoming Faculty Oboe Recital on the Eastern New Mexico University campus.

Tracy talks about growing up in New England as a child and how she received her first musical instrument which was the oboe. In addition, Tracy also talks about who she became interested in instrumental music and what she plans on playing at the recital.
